Athletics Overview

Central athletics are open to all students with academic eligibility. The dedicated, experienced coaching staff teaches Centurions the importance of teamwork, respect for the games, and how to develop their athletic abilities on and off the playing field.

The athletic program at Greensburg Central works in conjunction with all other aspects of the school. It has been developed as an extension of the education achieved in the classroom setting. It offers a wide range of activities that are greater in number than most institutions comparable in size to Greensburg Central.

Students at Greensburg Central may select from 21 interscholastic varsity sports that compete in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA). Because of this affiliation, and the shared philosophy of all member schools, varsity athletics are highly competitive in nature; varsity teams must, therefore, be prepared thoroughly and extensively. These students are offered educational opportunities that are provided in no other setting, and skills are developed so that teams will have opportunities to win.
