Mission Statement
Greensburg Central Catholic, in conjunction with Excela Health Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, provides comprehensive care for all of its student-athletes. This care includes one licensed athletic trainer to be present at Greensburg Central Catholic for all practices and home events as designated by the contract.
Licensed athletic trainers are health care professionals who work under the direction of physicians to optimize the activity and participation of clients and patients. The scope of athletic training includes prevention, assessment, and intervention of emergency; and acute and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. The athletic trainer may provide pre-practice taping and wrapping, evaluation and rehabilitation of injuries, on-field/court coverage and first aid, and post-practice assessments.
At Greensburg Central Catholic, we make every attempt to provide the finest health care to all student-athletes. To aid in this care, parents are encouraged to communicate directly with a coach or the athletic trainer if an athlete sustains an injury. This direct communication can only benefit in the student athlete's recovery from an injury. Injuries are common with participation in athletics. With proper communication and timely invention, most injuries can be managed within the athletic training room. If the management of an injury requires a more comprehensive referral, we can aid the student-athlete/family through the process.
