A Welcome from the Principal
Welcome to Greensburg Central Catholic High School! For over 60 years, Greensburg Central Catholic has provided a high-quality, college preparatory Catholic education to students in Westmoreland and surrounding counties. Greensburg Central Catholic is rooted in the vision of the first Bishop of the Diocese of Greensburg, Bishop Hugh L. Lamb, and strives to promote the formation of students within a community of faith.
As you visit GCC's campus or explore the resources and information on the website, you will encounter many examples of the mission of Greensburg Central Catholic and samples of what makes Greensburg Central Catholic the right choice for so many families. Faith and integrity are imbedded in every aspect of our environment, as we strive to form our students as individuals to be people of faith, offering service to those in need. We offer a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum designed to help students reach their highest potential. Opportunities include those promoting leadership and service, various opportunities to explore or further develop new interests, and those supporting growth and development through athletics, the arts, STEM fields, and numerous clubs and extra-curricular activities.
Greensburg Central Catholic's educational program is centered on Catholic teachings, where students will learn to integrate critical reasoning and scholastic achievement. Greensburg Central Catholic emphasizes academic excellence, faith formation, service, dignity, integrity, and justice. Our mission is to promote the formation of students within a community of faith and foster growth in faith and moral responsibility. Greensburg Central Catholic offers a learning environment that encourages each student to seek his personal best while contributing to the school's lasting tradition. The interaction between faculty and students is characterized by mutual respect and genuine concern. In a few short years, our students become impassioned to lead extraordinary lives in the Catholic tradition.
All of this happens on our campus, located in an area of Hempfield Township known as Carbon. Greensburg Central Catholic collaborates with several institutes of higher education including Saint Vincent College, Seton Hill University, Mount Aloysius College, and the University of Pittsburgh. In the Fall of 2019, we opened our Enhanced Maker Space. It is an exciting time to be a part of GCC; we are buzzing with innovative classroom techniques. We are meeting the demands of a changing world and the future of learning. We have added STEM and Makers education. These cutting edge programs empower students to work on projects, solve problems, think creatively, collaborate with peers, program bots, and invent new products that serve the school as well as the community. We have defined teaching and learning with faculty development in project-based learning, a 1:1 computer program, and innovative classroom spaces.
Please take the time to browse our website, schedule a visit, and contact us with any questions you may have. We welcome the opportunity to share what we have to offer with you and your family.
Glory to God Alone!
